When we’re back home in Grand Rapids, we love taking little coffee breaks, especially with spots like Madcap Coffee available. Thanks to Instagram, we had spied out a newer coffee spot along Wealthy Street, a continually budding stretch of shops, restaurants, bakeries, and breweries.

It’s hard to ignore images of a little coffee corner with seating inside clear igloos for gathering. And so, on the way to the Grand Rapids Public Museum one morning, we found ourselves at Outside Coffee Co.

Outdoor Coffee is a landscaped corner lot with a small trailer serving coffee, espresso, special lattes, and all the fun stuff.

In the warmer months you’ll find more tables and seating.

But in these delightful Michigan winters, you can enjoy your coffee on-site under a trio of heated, clear plastic geodesic domes. Not only are they very Instagram-worthy, they’re actually fun little spots to sip your coffee. Each igloo has a smaller heater in the center (but you’ll still need your coat), and includes a mix of tables. Just expect to sit cozy up with strangers.

Beth, Owen, and I sipped a cortado, hot chocolate, and gingerbread latte, respectively. (And we nibbled on the last couple bites of an excellent cinnamon roll from Wealthy Street Bakery down the street.)

The quality of the coffee held up to the cute location. Add this to your list of great coffee stops in Grand Rapids.
