I’m always on the lookout for good coffee, and this summer we’ve seen a proliferation of new coffee trucks hitting the streets of central Ohio. Some are more mobile while some pick their favorite spots, and Honey Cup Coffee Co. (which does travel!) has made a home at the corner of Hudson and Summit streets, on the border between Clintonville and the University District.
This intersection is near and dear to my heart, as we used to live a block north of it. We loved it when Baba’s moved into the corner space (and were very sad when they closed last year), and are appreciative of how Punk Pigs and the nearby businesses have transformed the corner into the SoHud Food Park.
Joel and Joel, the main team behind Honey Cup, trained at Brioso Coffee (whose beans they use), and their expertise is evident on the menu of drip coffee, cold brew, espresso drinks, teas, and non-coffee offerings.
I’ve really dug the cortados and mochas we’ve tried from Honey Cup so far.
They’ve also usually got a couple specials up on the board. While matcha and yerbe mate aren’t usually my cup of tea (see what I did there?), the orange cream matcha and mango yerba mate are very nicely composed, and great summer refreshers.
Honey Cup takes its place in the SoHud Food Park, next to the Koshary King food truck (serving Egyptian street food) and a small patio for diners from Punk Pigs and the food trucks.
As a bonus, every Saturday and Sunday the corner really comes alive when the SoHud Collective fills the lot with vendors, music, and performances. Honey Cup makes a perfect stop if you’re visiting the market, or just passing through the area and in need of coffee.
