Make the Best Ravioli with a Class from Braised & Broiled

December 8, 2022

Just before Thanksgiving we enjoyed a fantastic night as a family as guests of Joseph and Annie Ramsey of Braised & Broiled. In addition to offering a full line of breads, pastas, snacks, and sweets, Braised & Broiled offers a combined cooking class and amazing Italian dinner they run out of their home through AirBnb Experiences.

Joseph and Annie started Braised & Broiled out of a love of cooking and bringing people together. Throughout the night they shared stories about themselves and their journey – they’ve even written a book about it!

The whole experience was simply a delight! We got to enjoy their company, learn to make ravioli, and then taste one of the best Italian meals we’ve had in recent years.

When we arrived, a lovely little snack board greeted us.

The main part of the class is learning to make your own ravioli from scratch. Joseph demonstrated the process for us, then set us on our way while they finished the rest of the meal.

This was such a fun experience as a family, as the boys learned a new skill. Joseph balanced detailed instruction with leaving us room to figure out the process on our own.

It was fun to watch them at work preparing the meal while we took a turn making ravioli.

Look at these boys! I was so proud of them for just diving in.

Ravioli is one of my favorite pastas (I have fond memories of Chef Boyardee ravioli growing up), so it was fun making our own. They tailor the menu to each group’s needs and preferences; our ravioli was filled with a cheese and herb mixture.

When everything was prepared, they set the meal for us.

In addition to the ravioli, that night we feasted on meatballs, whipped ricotta, flatbreads, butternut squash…

…plus roasted brussels sprouts and mushrooms. Everything was expertly done, wonderfully seasoned – just a warm and wonderful meal to eat.

And don’t forget dessert! They whipped up a luscious tiramisu.

And to top it all off, we enjoyed little cups of hot, rich chocolate.

Thanks to Joseph and Annie for inviting us into their home and sharing their talents and passion with us! It was a fun and engaging experience all around, filled with great food and instruction. They can accommodate up to six people usually, and do have some flexibility with kids. Each menu is tailored to the group.

In addition to their classes, they offer gingerbread house kits, hot chocolate kits, breads, pastas, sweets, snacks, and much more!
