OU alums and fans of all things Athens, Ohio – rejoice! A taste of Athens has opened in Columbus, in the form of a cart from Bagel Street Deli. The local favorite shop, known for their giant steamed bagel sandwiches, opened a cart as part of the forthcoming Jackie O’s on Fourth last week.

Bagel Street Deli’s trailer is parked next to the patio near the northeast corner of the building, easily visible from North Fourth and Spring streets.
The menu is focused around their bagel sandwiches. You can build your own or choose from a couple dozen options grouped as breakfast, poultry, veggie, or carnivorous. Suffice it say, there’s something for everyone. It should be noted that they have vegan and gluten free options as well.
We caught them on Saturday morning, where a small crowd was building around the cart. The crew there was working quickly, although we waited close to 30 minutes for our sandwiches. I’m sure they’ll have some bugs to work out as they get things up and running before Jackie O’s full opening.
But it is hard to beat bagels on the patio.
Bagel Street Deli’s opening was also a chance to get a look at Jackie O’s new Columbus digs. They clock in at an impressive 6000 square feet of indoor space and 8000 square feet of outdoor space.
The patios are arranged over two levels and with a myriad of spaces, from benches and picnic tables to firepits and game areas.
There are also multiple outdoor bars.
And plenty of little nods to their Athens roots.
Bagel Street Deli’s hours are currently 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays.
