Friday Food Bites: The Cove opens in Delaware, CM Chicken expanding, Portia’s Diner closing

July 29, 2022

There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • The newest concept from Josh Dalton, owner of Speck Italian Eatery (which is set to reopen soon in downtown Columbus) and Veritas, opened recently at 15 E. Winter St. in Delaware. Cove, A Seafood Joint features seafood dishes from around the world, from lobster rolls to caviar to fish tacos to seafood boils.
  • Porter Yiamouyiannis, owner of Portia’s Diner in Clintonville, announced that the diner would close after business on Saturday, July 30. She cited the loss of the diner’s lease as the reason for closing. The companion Portia’s Cafe at 4428 Indianola Ave. remains open.
  • The Dispatch reported this week that Korean fried chicken chain CM Chicken is planning to expand with locations in Westerville and Pickerington.
  • Fukuryu Ramen opened its new location at 2029 Polaris Pkwy last night. This is its third location overall, joining spots in Dublin and Upper Arlington.
  • Columbus Underground reported this week that both DeVine Tastings & Dining at 958 N. High St. and Bar 23 on the 670 cap have closed.
  • 614 reported that Savvy Sliders is looking to open a new location at 2106 N. High St. near Ohio State’s campus.
  • The Coffee ColLab, an event from the Columbus Coffee Festival and Crimson Cup, returns on Saturday, Aug. 27. Local roasters and baristas will sample coffees, talk about brewing techniques, and more. The event includes local food trucks and a latte art throwdown.

There are a lot of events this weekend!
