5 Restaurants to Try This Month: November 2022

November 1, 2022

Want to support local restaurants? Curious about new openings or under-the-radar finds? Here are five restaurants I’m suggesting you try this month!

1. Pablo’s Havana Cafe

We don’t have many exclusively Cuban restaurants in Columbus, but Pablo’s easily tops the list. The family-run cafe in Powell is set to add a second location inside North Market Bridge Park. That means another chance to savor their tostones, Cuban sandwiches, arroz con pollo – not to mention weekend brunch!

Powell, OH 43065

2. Tupelo Honey

Anyone who’s traveled to Asheville, North Carolina will know the beloved Tupelo Honey, a cafe featuring tastes of Southern cooking. Well, Columbus now has a location to call its own. The Upper Arlington spot serves generous portions of fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, fried chicken, and other creative takes on classic fare.

3. Press Grill

It’s always good to revisit old favorites, and ever since our day living in Short North, the Press Grill has been one of our go-tos. Despite all the changes to the neighborhood, it’s comforting knowing the Press Grill is still there serving quesadillas, wings, Press burgers, meatloaf, hot dogs. Why do I think of the Press for November? Because every Thursday they still offer a Thanksgiving dinner for the special!

741 N. High St.
Columbus, OH 43215

4. 614 Kabob

614 Kabob just opened on Morse Road in Northland, where Couscous House used to sit. The new Afghan eatery features hummus, baba ganoush, and a variety of kebab platters using chicken, beef, or lamb.

5. Pizza House

I love a good Columbus-style pizza, and along with Terita’s Pizza, Pizza House is one of my favorites. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, tucked off Lincoln Avenue, close to the railroad tracks where the neighborhoods of Clintonville, Worthington, and Salem Village meet. They’ve been serving pizzas, subs, pastas, and much more since 1961. My favorite pie: the All the Way with everything.
