Cozy Up in a Hobbit Hole at Magical Earth Retreat

March 13, 2023

Over the years we’ve found plenty of great places to stay around Hocking Hills, from loads of cabins to spots like Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls or Glenlaurel Scottish Inn & Cottages. But there’s always something surprising to discover, and just recently we were invited to stay overnight at Magical Earth Retreat, which has a series of cabins that look like hobbit holes!

The retreat is built into the hillside of a property in Creola, about 20 minutes south of Logan.

It currently features four of the cabins, which sleep from two to four people.

We were put up in the Daisy cabin, which includes a small living area, kitchenette, queen bed, bunks, and bathroom.

Each cabin features a small hot tub, which is warmed by a wood fireplace. It does mean you need to be a little more active in keeping the heat up.

The grounds also include a small sauna that seats a couple people.

And there’s a firepit for communal use.

The retreat sits about 20 minutes south of Logan, close by many of the great hikes in the Hocking Hill or activities like the John Glenn Astronomy Park. You can drive up to Logan for the coffee shops, breweries, and restaurants like The Feed.

If you need a cozy place to sleep while you’re exploring the area, Magic Earth Retreat certainly makes for a fun stop!
