
There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- The owner of 1487 Brewery in Plain City announced that this weekend would be their last in business. Late last year, the brewery’s former COO was convicted in federal court of embezzling more than $200,000 from the company.
- After more than three decades in business, Oscar’s of Dublin abruptly closed this past weekend.
- The owners of SOW Plated in Upper Arlington announced that they’re adding two more locations in partnership with Kaufman Development. The first, titled SOW To Go at Gravity, will open in Franklinton this spring, while the second, SOW To Go at Green|House, will open later this year in the Short North.
- The owners of Pelino’s Pasta, which opened Piazza Pelino last December, announced that they’re taking over the former Tasi Cafe and converting it into an event space.
- A new restaurant is coming downtown called The State House. It’ll be located at 13 W. State St. in the Bonnier Building, former home to Ho Toy.
- Rollz Rice Indian Kitchen announced that they’re adding a second location close to campus at 16 E. Sixteenth Ave. The new store will open sometime in March.
- A new food truck called Smash City Burgers has been popping up around central Ohio. On Wednesday, Feb. 7, they’ll appear at Global Gallery in Clintonville from 4-7 p.m.
- This weekend the Hamburger Inn in Delaware starts offering overnight hours again. It’ll begin on Friday, Feb. 2 and will continue every Friday and Saturday.
- The annual Mikey’s Late Night Slice / Hot Chicken Takeover collaboration pizza returns to most LNS locations on Monday, Feb. 5. From Feb. 5-18 the partnership pizza will be available, before a Ma’s Mac version returns Feb. 19-25. There’s also a vegan version available at the LNS South Fourth Street location downtown Feb. 16-18.
- Watershed Distillery has launched an online lottery for its second batch of its award-winning straight rye whiskey. Winners will be notified on Feb. 22.
- Throughout the month of February, the Columbus Commons will host a food truck from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday, starting with Fetty’s Street Food.
- Ice Cream for Breakfast Day is this Saturday, Feb. 3. All of Jeni’s Ice Creams shops will be open special hours from 9 a.m. to noon with special flavors and other festivities.
- Nocterra Brewing celebrates its fifth anniversary this Saturday, Feb. 3 starting at 11:30 a.m. They’ll unveil a new slate of beers, host live music, food, and more.
