5 Restaurants To Try This Month: April 2024

April 4, 2024

Want to support local restaurants? Curious about new openings or under-the-radar finds? Here are five restaurants I’m suggesting you try this month!

1. Thai Grille

We came across this little corner Thai restaurant in Uptown Westerville while searching for a birthday dinner for my wife. The one-room hidden gem offers a homemade menu with excellent dishes like spring rolls, chicken satay, curry dishes, pad Thai, Pad-C-Ew, and more.

2. Shakers Public House

After a fire destroyed their West Side location, Shakers Public House recently relocated to Worthington and brought their diehard customers with them. Visit their colorful and expansive new space for wing specials, beer selection, pretzels, and loads of other bar snacks. Don’t miss Power Hour from 5-6 p.m. every day!

3. Cravings Cafe

Cravings is one of my favorite spots in town. The family-run eatery downtown serves breakfast and lunch on weekdays, offering a range of sandwiches, burgers, and other staples, often on their homemade brioche bread. I’m partial to their breakfast roll, downtown smashburger, and grilled cheese, but be on the lookout for weekly specials. Bonus: their breakfast roll is now only $5.55 on Mondays from 8-11 a.m.

4. Way Down Yonder New Orleans Finest Restaurant

On the South End, Chef Yonder and her team whip up some of the city’s best New Orleans fare! She hails from New Orleans and has been cooking for years, so her restaurant is the place to go for seafood gumbo, cornbread, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee. Her hot honey shrimp po’ boy is perhaps my favorite in town!

5. Understory

Understory is an outpost for cocktails, beer, and small plates from the team behind Wolf’s Ridge Brewing. It’s located in the beautifully renovated Open Air School building. The upstairs Lounge is a cozy spot to hang out, while the downstairs Commons features a giant patio (that should be opening soon for the season!)

2571 Neil Ave.
Columbus, OH 43202
