April 24, 2025

There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest news:

  • Echo Spirits Distillery opens its new tasting room, Echo Spirits on the Vine, today – Friday, April 25 – at 3 p.m. The new tasting room is a located at 3510 Clark-Shaw Rd. in Powell, and is a partnership with the newly renamed R&S Vineyards.
  • The South Korean bakery chain Paris Baguette opens its third Columbus-area location on Saturday, April 26 at 1369 W. Lane Ave. in Upper Arlington. This joins existing stores at Polaris and at Easton. Click here to see their Easton store!
  • It was announced this week that Service Relief Kitchen, the non-profit that supports service industry workers and operates Cafe Overlook downtown, will open a new culinary space called The Line at 145 N. Grant Ave. downtown. The Line will serve as a restaurant, bar, and coffee shop that’s a training and development facility for restaurant workers, and will eventually include a business incubator space. (Full disclosure: I’m on the board of directors for Service, and would be happy to talk more about it!)
  • The Cafe on East Fifth, a new venture from seasoned restaurateurs Kevin and Lori Ames, opened last week at 260 E. Fifth Ave. in Weinland Park. It’s located in one of the many new developments along that stretch.
  • Cincinnati’s Losanti Steakhouse announced it will open its first Columbus location at 440 W. Broad St. in the Gravity development. It’s replacing Taft’s Brewporium, which closed last fall.
  • The Moroccan bakery and brunch spot Maison Skalli announced abruptly that it has closed its new Hilliard location at 3708 Fishinger Blvd., which opened about a month ago. On social media they said a new Hilliard location is on the way already; their original Dublin store at 2746 Festival Ln. is open as usual.
  • Downtown French restaurant Chouette just earned the prestigious World’s French Restaurant certification by the French Association of Master Restaurateurs. It’s one of 21 selected eateries worldwide, and the only one in the U.S.
