Friday Food Bites: Black Sheep debuts in Short North, Marib Coffee joins Westerville

There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest news:

  • The owner of District West soft opens Black Sheep Kitchen & Spirits this weekend in the Short North. It takes the place of Bristol Republic, which is in the process of moving to Bridge Park, and is a community-oriented, LGBTQ-friendly restaurant and bar serving brunch, dinner, and late night eats that will feature live music, DJs, and more.
  • The owner of Yemeni Restaurant has soft opened a new coffee shop called Marib Coffee. It’s located at 610 W. Shrock Rd. in Westerville and features pastries, traditional Yemeni coffees, espresso drinks, refreshers, smoothies, tea, and more.
  • Parlor Doughnuts will open its second central Ohio location this Saturday, Aug. 9 at 5915 Evans Farm in the Evans Farm development in Lewis Center. Parlor, which started in Indiana, opened its first local shop in Powell this past February.
  • The sushi spot Oshii 2 has quietly closed at 2333 N. High St. (the former Alana’s and short-lived Adelaide’s) and has become a sports bar called Joey’s Place.
  • The Yabo’s Tacos at 5254 Cemetery Rd. in Hilliard has closed.
  • The owner of ‘plas food and drink in the Short North has opened a new concept called Plate at the East Market.
