Our Favorite Chinese Restaurants in Columbus

October 25, 2025

Our family loves Chinese food, and over the years we’ve developed several favorite spots around town. While not an exhaustive list, here are some of our favorite places for Chinese food in Columbus!

1. Main Moon Chinese Restaurant

Main Moon is our family’s automatic go-to when we want to order Chinese, in part because the location is convenient, but mainly because the owners are so friendly and the food is always excellent. Like many Chinese restaurants in town, their menu spans authentic Chinese dishes and American classics. We love the Chengdu cold noodles, the dan dan noodles, dumplings in hot chili oil, and Szechuan diced chicken.

2. ChiliSpot

Like Main Moon, ChiliSpot is often the top pick when our family wants Chinese food. “Or we could go to ChiliSpot?” our teens usually say. There’s so much to love on the menu at ChiliSpot, but we always order the Chongquing spicy popcorn chicken, dan dan noodles, braised Shanghai greens with mushrooms. And I could make a meal just out of their spicy Sichuan wontons.

3. N.E. Chinese

Like the name implies, N.E. Chinese focuses on the cuisine of northeast China, commonly called Dongbei, so you’ll see familiar dishes but you’ll also see more potatoes and fewer heavy sauces, amongst other things. There are a lot of winners on the menu, but we’ve generally loved the hot and sour fern root noodles, mala green beans, eggplant in brown sauce, twice fried fish. And if those cumin potatoes return to the menu, be sure to order those!

4. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi

We were long-time fans of Fortune Chinese Restaurant before it closed in the old Olentangy Square shopping center. Fortunately, the owners returned to form with Chuan Jiang Hao Zi in late 2023, on the corner of the newly rebuilt center. There’s plenty to love: wontons, noodle dishes, stir fried veggies, loads of Szechuan dishes.

5. Fiery Sky Asian Kitchen

Fiery Sky is a newer kid on the block from one of the former owners of Xia Xia. We’ve enjoyed every single one of their visits. Favorites have included the cucumber salad, salt and pepper crispy pork, spicy wontons, udon noodle dishes. And our boys have declared their General Tso’s the best in town.

6. Kung Fu Noodle

Kung Fu Noodle is another relative newcomer, taking up a storefront on the city’s northwest side on Godown Road, next door to Los Guachos. Their specialty is hand-pulled noodles, and they put them to work in dan dan noodles, beef noodle soups, stir fries. Don’t snooze on their dumplings (especially the soup dumplings) or the rice dishes. I love the hot pepper pork over rice!

7. Jiu Thai Asian Cafe

Jiu Thai is a community favorite for Chinese food in Columbus, known especially for their hand-stretched noodle dishes like the biang biang noodles. They’re also loved for their soups, dumplings, charcoal grilled skewers, sandwiches, and more.
