Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- This week Due Amici Italian restaurant downtown abruptly closed after nearly 22 years in business. Reports say it was in the process of being sold before the buyers stepped away. It first opened in 2004 at 67 E. Gay St. and was a mainstay in the revitalization of the Gay Street district.
- Winans Coffee and Chocolate also announced that they’ll be closing their Short North store. Located at 611 N. High St., the shop opened in February 2024. The German Village and Grandview locations remain open, as do several more around Ohio.
- And the one Ohio location of Giordano’s has abruptly closed. The Chicago deep dish pizza shop had opened in 2017 at 2137 Polaris Pkwy.
- The Bottle Shop in Victorian Village has officially been reborn as Cordial Cocktails & Bottle Shop, featuring an updated look and a renewed focus on cocktails and wines. The cocktail bar was purchased by Gregory Stokes, owner of Accent Wines downtown, in 2022.
- Wario’s Beef & Pork has begun late-night hours at their downtown location. They’ll stay open until midnight Thursdays-Saturdays and until 9 p.m. on Sundays.
- A new members-only omakase restaurant and lounge called NomaEN is slated to take over the former Oscar’s space in Historic Dublin. According to their website, it will open in the spring of 2027.
- The Daily Growler in German Village, which has been temporarily closed for a few months, is reopening this week as a revamped concept called The Daily Etcetera.
Some great culinary events!
- The Columbus Arts Festival is this weekend! That’s where you’ll find me working. In addition to hundreds of artists, dozens of live performances, hands-on activities for all ages, you’ll find 40+ food trucks, Rhinegeist beers, boozy slushies from High Bank Distillery, ice cream and cold brew floats from Graeter’s, lemon shake-ups, and more.
- Columbus Food Adventures just announced their newest tour, an Asian Eats tour! It kicks off on Saturday, June 27 and features a collection of Asian restaurants around the Northwest side.
