Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- After entering a “chrysalis state” for a couple months, The Daily Growler in German Village celebrates its grand reopening as The Daily Etcetera this Friday, June 19. It will feature a refreshed look, more seating, and expanded beverage offerings. It’s set to open at 2 p.m. on Friday.
- This week we learned more details, including the name, of the forthcoming Medley Kitchen, set to join Hilliard’s TruePointe development this fall. It’s led by Derek Bush, owner of the Culinary Collectives, and according to a press release its menu “highlights how shared ingredients can create a medley of flavors through tapas, dim sum, and mezze-style dishes.”
- After its closure last fall, Pecan Penny’s BBQ at 113 E. Main St. will become Ochoa Mexican Grill, a new Mexican concept from the Pecan Penny’s owners. It’s set to open sometime later this summer.
- The last Columbus location of Barrio has closed. It was located at 1870 N. High St. next to OSU’s campus. The Grandview-area location of this Cleveland-based taco chain closed last year.
- The BD’s Mongolian Grill location at 6242 Sawmill Rd. in Dublin closed last week. Their Easton location remains open.
- Following quickly on the closure of Giordano’s pizzeria, Roots Natural Kitchen announced that it will take over its restaurant space at 2137 Polaris Pkwy. This will be Roots’ fourth central Ohio location, joining shops in Dublin, Grandview, and near campus.
- The new Lebanese fast casual Beirut Bitez soft opened last week at 5720 Frantz Rd. in Dublin. The eatery comes to us from owners of Taste of Greece food truck in Clintonville.
- Milky Way Matcha Bar has opened its second location at 1600 W. Lane Ave. in Upper Arlington. The owners briefly ran the Izakaya Ryu concept there before converting it to the matcha bar this year. It joins a location in Dublin’s Bridge Park.
- This week has been Peach Week, where dozens of local restaurants have featured peaches on their menu from The Peach Truck. The week technically runs through June 20, although I’m sure we’ll be seeing many more specials in the coming weeks.
- Next week Wednesday, June 24, Columbus Food Adventures hosts its latest supper club, this one featuring chef MJ Hernandez from Bonifacio.
