Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- Fetty’s Street Food and Flour Modern Pasta Bar announced this week that they’re teaming up to combine menus and operations at Flour’s Polaris restaurant space. Dubbed Flour & Fetty’s, the collaborative concept will launch sometime this fall.
- The growing fried chicken shop OX-Bs opened their newest location this week. It can be found at 7370 Sawmill Rd. in Dublin. This is their eighth location overall.
- Last weekend Bakes By Lo closed their stall at Center Street Market in preparation for the move to their own storefront at 4045 Main St. in Old Hilliard. They’ll announce a grand opening soon.
- With that, Coffee Connections has also closed their adjoining stall in the market. Coffee Connections recently had to vacate their long-time storefront in Old Hilliard because of structural issues. They’re currently set up in the basement of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship at 4066 Main St.; once Bakes By Lo opens, they’ll join her in the new space.
- Messobe Ethiopian Restaurant has opened at 1223 Goodale Blvd. in Grandview, where Nile Vegan once made its home. Thanks to Columbus Food Adventures for the tip! We’re always happy to have more Ethiopian food in town.
- A new Spanish and Mediterranean outpost called Sugar Restaurant & Bar is set to open on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 504 Park St. It’s a sister restaurant to Forno, The Pint House, and other nearby spots.
- A country music bar based out of Cleveland called The Farm is set to open at 906 N. High St. in the Short North on Saturday, Aug. 22. It’s owned by country singer Chase Rice and Forward Hospitality Group.
- The news broke this week that Aldi is planning a downtown Columbus location at the northwest corner of Spring Street and Cleveland Avenue, across from Columbus State’s campus. That joins new developments that are under construction or have been announced, including new academic buildings, more housing, and a brand new YMCA.
Some great culinary events coming soon:
- The Great Bourbon Affair returns to the Historic Trolley District near Franklin Park on Saturday, Aug. 22, with 30+, tastings, and more.
- Festival Latino returns this weekend, Aug. 22-23, to new locations at the Columbus Commons and Ohio Theatre. As usual it will feature lots of music, dance, family activities, and great food!
- Tickets are now on sale for Taste of Downtown. Set for Saturday, Sept. 12, the second-annual event allows guests to explore a variety of businesses downtown for special deals, tastes, and other fun.
- Tickets are also on sale for Land-Grant Brewing’s Oktoberfest, coming on Sept. 19!
