Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:
- The big news in the Columbus restaurant world is the abrupt shuttering of Nocterra Brewing this week. They closed their original Powell taproom and their brewpub next to Scioto Audubon Park. The official announcement came after rumors circulated on social media that employees and guests were told of the closing. The Nocterra owners posted an official statement on Monday, rebuffing rumors of them being purchased by Wolf’s Ridge Brewing, and indicating that the closures may be temporary while they “regroup, reorganize, and re-emerge.”
- Indian Oven, which has been downtown since 2001, announced that they’ve closed their restaurant at 427 E. Main St. and will be moving to Delaware. There’s no exact address or timeline for the move.
- The Whispering Page cafe, bar, and bookstore opened in Old Worthington this week. The two-story bookstore features a bar with wine and bar, snacks from local bakeries, and coffee service from Florin Coffee. It’s located at 661 N. High St.
- The owners of RIDEhome bike and coffee shop in Old Worthington announced that they’ve closed their doors after 16 years.
- Bristol Republic officially opens in its new Bridge Park home on Thursday, Sept. 10. The restaurant and live music venue moved out of its original Short North home; the new Dublin location includes The Saddle Club bar and lounge.
Some cool culinary events:
- The Columbus Greek Festival is this weekend, Sept. 4-7, bringing a full weekend of Greek dance, music, games, crafts, food, and drink to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in the Short North.
- Soberfest is this Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, with live music and loads of food trucks.
- Metsi’s is hosting a five-course bourbon pairing dinner with Watershed Distillery on Thursday, Sept. 10.
- Columbus Food Adventures just announced their next Taste Of dinner series, a night of Afghan cuisine with Kebab & Co. on Sept. 16.
