This week’s Three To Try: Beer Brunches

My post on Challah Food Truck at Seventh Son Brewing yesterday had me thinking about spots to grab a beer with brunch. I love when you can pair a class of the good stuff with a solid brunch, which leads to this week’s recommendations. Special bonus: all of these places are kid-friendly. Responsible beer enjoyment can go hand-in-hand with a good family meal.

1. 101 Beer Kitchen – My boys and I had a lovely experience when we visited 101’s Dublin location on assignment for the Dispatch. The staff is friendly and engaging, the beer selection wide and varied, and the brunch menu is tons of fun. We’re talking about French toast shaped like giant Twinkies, pork belly benedicts, breakfast pizzas. And the kid’s menu is just great; they get to fill out their own menu, and the meal is served on a cute little cafeteria tray. Heads-up: 101 has spots in Dublin and Gahanna.

2. Columbus Brewing Company Restaurant – CBC Restaurant’s brunch is like 101 Beer Kitchen’s: it’s fun, it’s very filling, they’ve got loads of good beer on tap, a roster of great Bloody Mary’s, and the menu features things like jambalaya, chicken and waffles, and benedicts. Also, a stellar kid’s menu with salads, grilled salmon, chicken!

3. Explorers Club at Zauber Brewing Company – EC recently closed their Merion Village brick-and-mortar and took over the kitchen at Zauber. The truck is still active, too, and they regularly serve Sunday brunch at Zauber (just confirm their whereabouts on social media). The menu can range from fried egg tacos to huevos rancheros and BLTs. And you can pair it with Zauber’s beers (Portergeist is on nitro tap right now!). Special bonus: the new Das Kaffeehaus von Frau Burkhardt just opened at Zauber, too, so you can start the morning with coffee and German pastries. (I wrote it up here in Columbus Alive.)
