Three To Try: Mexican Breakfasts

Last weekend we stopped by Los Guachos for tacos and gringas al pastor. Goodness, do I love that place. Quite simply, the visit had me thinking about some of our great Mexican breakfasts in Columbus!

1. La Plaza Tapatia – La Plaza is a full service restaurant and grocery on the west side of town, close to the casino. You can order a la carte or from the buffet (offered most days). The menu is in Spanish, but I think everyone will easily find dishes to love. And when you’re done you can stroll the market and pick up fresh pastries!

2. Cuco’s Taqueria – People are still surprised when they find out Cuco’s serves breakfast every morning starting at 8 a.m. They have a couple American standards on the menu, but the real gems are the chilaquiles, moyetes, huevos rancheros, and the oaxaqueña (pictured above).

3. Nada – Cincinnati-based Nada offers some modern takes on Mexican classics. Both the restaurant and the plating are colorful, and we’ve experienced a delightful brunch there multiple times. It’s hard not to love the chorizo and egg enchiladas, the bacon and egg tacos, and tinga chicken and fried eggs.
