Three To Try: Coffee Cocktails

October 14, 2016

I love seeing coffee shops flex their muscles and experiment with coffee drinks beyond traditional cappuccinos and macchiatos. Hot or cold brewed coffee or espresso can serve as an interesting base, and this week you can check out three coffee concoctions!

1. Mission Coffee Co. – We were won over this summer by Mission’s Cold Fashioned (pictured above), a summer cocktail made with cold brew coffee, bitters, simple syrup, Luxardo cherry, and orange peel. This fall they’re featuring a salted maple cortado with espresso, Hartzler Dairy milk, cinnamon, and Ohio maple syrup. They’re also serving a cascara cider!

2. Roosevelt Coffeehouse – Roosevelt is actually featuring a couple coffee creations this fall, like their apple crisp cortado or their smortado with mini marshmallows. You can also add their homemade pumpkin sauce to your drink, and they offer a mini flight of autumn drinks!

3. Crimson Cup – Next week Crimson Cup is joining the pumpkin game with a pumpkin cocktail, and they’re doing it right (i.e. no overly sugared syrupy mixes). Their pumpkin creation combines cold brew coffee, house-made pumpkin puree (with cane sugar), cream, and fresh grated nutmeg.
