The southern end of Clintonville has traditionally been a coffee desert. Sure, there’s the wonderful Yeah, Me Too on Indianola for French press and cold brew, and further up north there’s Cup O’ Joe and Crimson Cup, but on the southern end bordering Old North: nothing.
But no more! Johnny Coffee is now on the scene at Lucky’s Market.

Johnny Coffee is a cart run by Jaina and Stephen, some lovely neighborhood residents who have put their excitement about good coffee to work. You’ll find them consistently at Lucky’s most weekdays, and then popping up at various events in the evenings and on weekends. To find them, just look for their white cart with yellow lettering!

We’ve visited a few times already and have enjoyed every interaction with them. There are a lot of great touches to the cart, including some unique drinks and ceramic-ware made especially for them.

They serve both espresso drinks, brewed coffee, and tea, alongside some specialties like the Chatterbox (cold brew with a shot of espresso) or the Mint Latte. The menu rotates through some fun seasonal specialties, too.

Part of the fun of this simple cart setup is getting to interact with them and watch your coffee being made.

Just looking at these photos again makes me crave a cappuccino.

Their ceramic mugs let you enjoy your coffee there at Lucky’s, while you hang with them…

…or you can grab it to go.

The setting at Lucky’s is very convenient to access, as they’re right at the front of the building, with plenty of parking space available.

So go visit them at Lucky’s Market! We’re glad to have such a great coffee option in our neck of the woods.
