Friday Food Bites: April 6, 2018

April 6, 2018

There’s a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world – here’s the latest!

  • The big news this week is that at long last our beloved Katalina’s is adding a second location! The new spot is slated to open late 2018/early 2019 in Clintonville at 3481 N. High St. (current site of the pen store).
  • Zoe Cafe in Bexley closed abruptly last week, and Harvest Pizzeria announced they would take over the space. This joins another forthcoming Harvest location in the former Old Bag of Nails spot in Grandview.
  • Hai Poke soft opened a new location at Polaris this week.
  • Hot Chicken Takeover celebrates their fourth anniversary today – Friday, Apr. 6 – with a $5 special on their drumstick meals.
  • The fifth-annual Taste of Clintonville is next week Thursday, Apr. 12 from 5-8 p.m. at Mozart’s Cafe.
  • The Columbus Food Hub in Olde Towne East, launching point for Hot Chicken Takeover, J Hot Fish, and other businesses, announced they’ll be closing in the next month as their corner of Oak and Ohio is re-developed.
  • Kindred Brewing celebrates their second anniversary all day on Saturday, Apr. 7. Read about it in my On Tap column in Columbus Alive here!
  • BrewDog announced they’re opening their Short North brewpub on Saturday, Apr. 14. Located at 1175 N. High St., this is the first brewpub in the city outside of their Canal Winchester facility. Another pub in Franklinton is still coming.
  • Freaks + Leeks hosts a vegan popup brunch at Strongwater this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
  • The Rancho Alegre in Grandview closed this week.
  • Huong Vietnamese Restaurant announced they’ll re-open on May 2. They have been closed since late December after their chef was injured.
