There’s a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world; here’s the latest for this week:
- The Columbus Dispatch and other outlets are reporting that TeeJaye’s Country Place will be closing its long-running location at Morse and High Street in Clintonville, the one noted for its historic neon drive-in sign. According to the Dispatch, the TeeJaye’s owners are searching for a new location nearby. No word on what will take it’s place. UPDATE: a few different sources have alerted me to city records that confirm that Chick-fil-A has purchased the site and plans to demolish the building. No word about the historic neon sign, which is left over from Jerry’s Drive-In.
- The Locust Table, a new breakfast, brunch, and lunch cafe, has opened at 16 Crossing St. in Powell.
- Kitchen Social at Polaris announced they would be opening a second location at Bridge Park in Dublin this summer. The new restaurant is slated for 6791 Longshore St.
- Mikey’s Late Night Slice and Hot Chicken Takeover’s annual collaboration, the Hot Mikey’s Takeover pizza, returns Feb. 14 with a virtual Valentine’s Day party. Tickets for the party, hosted by Joe DeLoss and Mikey Sorboro, include a build-your-own pizza kit and are on sale through Feb. 11. The Hot Mikey’s Takeover pizza will be available Feb. 13-21, a Ma’s Mac version available Feb. 22-28, and a vegan version will be sold at Mikey’s Convention Center store on Feb. 15, 21, and 28.
- Coast Wine House in Historic Dublin reopened this week after being closed over the holidays
- The German Village Coffee Shop also reopened for dine-in this week
- Although they have closed up, Nancy’s Home Cooking will be popping up serving some of their classic dishes today (Friday, Feb. 5) at Ann’s Kitchen in Powell from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The fast casual hibachi shop Genjigo announced that it would open its eighth location in the old Plantain Cafe space, at 77 E. Gay St. downtown
- 614 Now reported that The Crispy Coop in Grandview is adding a Pickerington location sometime this month
