There’s a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world; here’s the latest for this week:
- La Plaza Tapatia on the west side announced that it will open its new, expanded location on March 24. The new store will be located at 255 Georgesville Rd. and include a bar, coffee shop, bakery, paleteria, prepared foods, full supermarket amenities, and other services. They’ll also include dedicated parking spaces for local food trucks.
- Following last week’s announcement that Willowbeez Soulveg will join North Market, the market shared that The Pastry Factory will also open a stall there soon, taking the vacant spot between Stauf’s and Green Olive Co.
- The new combined PINS Mechanical Co./16-Bit Bar + Arcade location opened yesterday at 4117 Worth Ave. at Easton
- As reported through multiple outlets last week, Platform Beer Co.’s Columbus taproom is temporarily closed after employees resigned over concerns about health and safety. The company shared that all of its locations will be closed through March 9.
- The city of Columbus’s outdoor seating pilot program, which allows restaurants to use portions of city streets and parking spots for expanded outdoor dining, is set to resume on March 15.
- Cleveland-based taco joint Barrio announced they’ll open a second Columbus location in the forthcoming 15th and High Street development across from campus.
- Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bojangles just announced that they’ll add 15 locations to central Ohio, opening later this year and into next year. (I wrote about them waaaay back in 2009, and personally, I’m pretty excited to have them in town.)
- Service! Relief Kitchen has launched a new financial assistance grant program, where they’re giving out one $1000 grant a week for the next eight weeks. The organization has also kicked off a series of eight chef dinners, where you can bid on a dinner for six from a Columbus chef, starting first with Chef Andrew Smith. The proceeds support Service!’s efforts.
