There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- Tasi Cafe announced yesterday that today – Friday, Aug. 4 – will be its last day in business after 17 years. I’m sad to see this Short North mainstay go!
- After a months-long renovation, Krema Nut Company has reopened its cafe at 1000 Goodale Blvd. in Grandview. They’re currently serving milkshakes only, but their fabled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches will return soon.
- A new Mexican joint called Lupita’s Mexican Cuisine has opened at 1586 S. High St. in Merion Village (the former Geordie’s/Explorers Club space).
- In case you missed the news last week, Hiraeth, the new live fire cooking restaurant from the owners of Chapman’s Eat Market and Ginger Rabbit, will make its debut at 36 E. Lincoln St. on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
- The owner of Old North Arcade will open a new beer bar and entertainment venue called Eupouria at 1568 N. High St. in the Gateway University District. The 5000-square-foot space was most recently home to District PourHouse. It’ll feature 40 taps of self-serve beer, games, food, and live music; it’s set to open by the end of the month.
- Business First reported this week that Watershed Distillery has been acquired by a Swiss company called Marussia Beverage.
- Domo Sushi Kitchen & Bar has opened in the old Nida’s Thai space at 976 N. High St. in the Short North. It’s serving up sushi and a collection of Japanese and Korean dishes.
- The owners of Barrel & Boar Westerville announced that they are closing that location of the business, saying that they had an opportunity to sell the space to another restaurant operator. Their spots in North Market, Gahanna, and Lancaster remain open.
- The North Market Wine Fest returns to its Bridge Park location Aug. 18-19.
- The And Friends and Bincho Boys pop-ups are teaming up again on Aug. 26. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Aug. 5.
