Friday Food Bites: Ray Ray’s adding new truck, Lion Cub’s Cookies joins Worthington

March 8, 2024

There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest news:

  • Late last week Ray Ray’s Hog Pit announced that it would be moving its truck parked at Nocterra Brewing in Powell and would recreate it as a new concept, Ray Ray’s Reload. The truck will move to The Bottle Shop in Victoria Village, where Mexpress Taqueria has been parked. Set to open on March 19, Ray Ray’s Reload will feature items like jerk chicken fried burritos and brisket fry bread tacos.
  • Today is the grand opening of Lion Cub’s Cookie’s new Worthington store. It will be open Tuesdays through Sundays, and is located at 7105 N. High St., in the new development that also includes Maple Street Biscuit Company.
  • Black Kahawa Coffee announced that it will open a “coffee patio” at the intersection of Broad and High soon, presumably in front of the shuttered Tim Hortons on the northeast corner.
  • This Friday, March 9, the Galaxy Coffee truck celebrates its grand reopening in a new location at 3264 N. High St. in Clintonville.
  • According to Facebook posts this week, Starliner Diner in Hilliard has begun serving some of the signature dishes from Nancy’s Home Cooking, such as its chicken and noodles. The exact availability is not entirely clear.
  • After a long hiatus, Martha’s Fusion Kitchen is potentially set to reopen on Monday, March 11 at 3331 Maize Rd. The restaurant is known particularly for its birria; it was named one of Columbus Monthly‘s Best New Restaurants in 2022.
  • Bubbly Hall in New Albany just welcomed its newest vendor, Crunchick. The stall features Korean fried chicken in sandwiches, wings, tenders, and sides.
  • A franchise of Pure Green juice and smoothie bar opens Saturday, March 9 at 665 Worthington Rd. in Westerville.
  • Watershed Kitchen & Bar will host a special dinner with Jack and Nicki Moore of Black Cap Hot Sauce on Tuesday, March 12. The Moores, both of whom are Watershed alums, are celebrating the three-year anniversary of Black Cap’s launch.
  • Cookbook author Cara Mangini, owner of the bygone Little Eater restaurants in North Market and Clintonville, will return to Columbus on March 28 for a book-signing at Gramercy Books in Bexley. She’s featuring her latest book, The Vegetable Eater.
  • Famed Seattle bakery Piroshky Piroshky is doing a country-wide tour and is stopping in Columbus from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 15 at Combustion Brewery in Clintonville. Guests must pre-order from their menu of Eastern European-style pastries by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13.
  • Columbus Food Adventures just announced a joint food and drink itinerary to England and Wales with Epic Beer Trips. The trip takes place Sept. 8-14 of this year.
