Friday Food Bites: Preston’s opens at Little Grand Market, Si Senor hosts Arepas Craft

Happy Friday! Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:

  • Preston’s Burgers officially opened its new stall at Little Grand Market in Grandview last week. They took the place of Taesty’s Southern Style, which closed a couple months back. Preston’s also continues to operate its storefront in Clintonville.
  • A new arepa-focused pop-up called Arepas Craft has started popping up every Sunday at Si Senor Grandview (1456 W. Fifth Ave.). Their menu features a handful of arepas and sides.
  • According to a sign posted on the door yesterday, Mecha Noodle Bar in the Short North announced that it has closed. The note cited continued challenges and rising costs within the restaurant industry as the reason for the closing.
  • Two Dollar Radio Headquarters posted on social media this week saying they will be scaling back their plant-based food menu after this week, and shifting focus at the beginning of the year to coffee, cocktails, and events. The independent bookstore said they’ll be offering a brunch menu during the select days over the holidays.
  • Shortly after announcing their expansion to the Short North, Frenchi’s Deli has soft opened their new shop at 1219 N. High St. An official grand opening is coming next week.
  • Demolition is underway for a new home for Mrs. Goodman’s Bakery in Worthington. Currently located at 901 High St., they moving about a block north to a new spot at High Street and Wilson Drive, where a former daycare building has been demolished to make way for the new bakery.
  • The first local store of a halal barbecue chain called Meat Moot celebrates its grand opening Friday, Dec. 19. Meat Moot has paired up with Yaffa Cafe, which opened last week, to take over the short-lived Dahab space at 3708 Fishinger Blvd. in Hilliard.
  • Café Zupas has opened a new location at 2004 N. High St. near campus.
  • The juice and dessert shop Juice Time just opened another local shop at 3951 Easton Square Pl. E. at Easton Town Center.
