Friday Food Bites: Lani Rooftop, Maison Skalli, EZ Ramyun, Mornings By Rooh opening

Happy Friday! I was gone for one week and SO MUCH HAPPENED. Here’s the latest Columbus restaurant news:

Openings & Events

  • After closing for a temporary revamp, Rooh in Short North reopens today with a refreshed space, updated dinner menu, and the introduction of a limited breakfast pop-up called Mornings By Rooh.
  • The Lox Bagel Shop announced that they’ll be adding a second location, this one at 2140 Ikea Way near IKEA and Polaris Parkway.
  • Maison Skalli opens its second location, this one in the old Kilwins Short North storefront at 662 N. High St. It debuts on Saturday, April 11.
  • Ramyun EZ opens on Friday, April 10 at 5025 Olentangy River Rd., in the old Tea Zone space. Ramyun EZ is a concept from the owners of Don Pocha Korean BBQ, and is a Korean-inspired cafe and grocery store. Amongst their signatures is a library of instant ramen noodles that guests can cook up on site.
  • North Market announced that Caroline’s Sandwiches will be the first permanent addition to the market’s forthcoming expansion. Caroline’s has been operating as a pop-up as part of CoLo Oyster Bar for a few months now.
  • The New Jersey-based Pink Pistachio cafe opens this weekend at 1072 Dublin Rd. in Grandview.
  • Lani Rooftop Lounge officially opened this week at 30 E. Olentangy St. in Powell. The third-story restaurant and bar sits atop the new COhatch coworking space. Get a full look here!
  • The former Bossy Grrls Pinup Joint in Old North is now a cocktail bar called Proof by The Alibi. It was purchased by the owner of Alibi Bourbon & Cocktail Lounge in the Short North, and is located at 2598 N. High St.
  • The Mordisco Venezuelan food truck, which has been a regular presence at Olentangy River Brewing Company, teased that they’re adding a second truck at Barrel & Bloom in Linworth.
  • UMI Hotpot Sushi & Seafood Buffet opened earlier this month 1831 W. Henderson Rd.
  • Birdie Books in Uptown Westerville recently added a coffee shop and bar to their lineup.
  • Hoseki Sushi & Grill is now open in Powell at 4290 Home Rd. Suite F.
  • A new Southern-inspired breakfast and lunch spot called Broadway Standard has opened at 3911 Broadway in Grove City.
  • Martha’s Fusion Kitchen has expanded to a second location, this one at 4502 Cemetery Rd. in Hilliard.
  • Also in Hilliard, a new bagel spot called Bagels & Jam Columbus has opened at 4465 Cemetery Rd.
  • On social media Wario’s Beef & Pork teased that they’ll be adding late-night hours sometime soon.
  • Columbus Food Adventures’ next Taste Of dinner features the wonderful Abimbola family of Foodateria Nigerian and Kenyan restaurant on April 22. Get your tickets here!

Closures

  • Iron Grill BBQ at at 5295 N. High St. in Clintonville abruptly closed last week.
  • The Draft Day sports bar in Grandview also closed, after less than a year in business. It had replaced Smokehouse Brewing on Dublin Road.
  • The Hilltop Dairy Twist also closed, following the death of its long-time owner. It was located at 2860 Sullivant Ave.
  • The Crispy Coop in Grandview at 1717 Northwest Blvd. has closed their doors.
  • ChaSha & Coffee has closed their Bethel Road store, while they plan out a new space on Sawmill Road.
