We’ve long followed Matt Heaggans’ work, from his days in food trucks to his time leading the kitchens at The Rossi and the Flatiron. Matt and his dishes have become a staple of the Columbus food scene, and his latest projects bring a sense of home and heritage to the table. Partnering with Columbus chef Catie Randazzo, Heaggans operates both Ambrose & Eve and Preston’s: A Burger Joint. Preston’s serves up this writer’s favorite burger out of a food truck and pop-ups at Woodland’s Tavern and Backyard (a brick and mortar in downtown Columbus is in progress, too). Ambrose & Eve is located in an old home on the border of German Village and the Brewery District, and features creative twists on classic home-cooked meals. Both eateries draw their names from Heaggans’ and Randazzo’s grandparents, and both bring that same sense of warmth, welcome, and comfort to their customers.
