There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • The first two portions of the East Market, at 1600 Oak St. in the Trolley District, opened last week. The Railhouse bar opened last week, and today Switch, the speakeasy-style bar, opens for business.
  • Law Bird‘s new retail carryout store, Law Bird Supply House, opens today at 1306 Grandview Ave. The store will offer bottled cocktails, wine, beer, and snacks.
  • The Olde Village Diner in Pickerington announced that they would be closing permanently after Dec. 30.
  • Service! Relief Kitchen announced the next steps for the organization this week, which focuses on the creation of Cafe Overlook on the 16th floor of the Franklin County offices building downtown. The cafe will serve as a workforce and economic development site for people entering the restaurant industry, offering wrap-around services, health insurance, mentoring, and more. For more about the efforts, check out this piece in the Columbus Dispatch.
  • The Hilltop burger and ice cream shop Double Happy closes for the season after today, Dec. 17, and will re-open in February of 2022.
  • Getaway Brewing, Seventh Son, and Antiques on High have launched a unique brewery tour, called the Getaway Van Experience. Up to six guests get a detailed, behind-the-scenes tour and tasting of the three breweries, all while being shuttled in a vintage Dodge Getaway van.
  • Finally, the Dispatch reported that a ghost kitchen concept is moving forward in the former Clintonville Outfitters space at 2864 N. High St. in Clintonville. The San Diego-based company that owns it plans to build out 22 kitchen spaces in it.
